Lumens Resolution Dimensions Technical Specs Customer Reviews Pros & Cons
Optoma HD66 Projector Lumens
The Optoma HD66 Projector is rated at 2500 ANSI Lumens. Lumens measure the brightness of the light that is coming out of the projector. The higher the number, the brighter the light. This is important because if you are in a room with ambient light, windows, etc, then you will need a brighter bulb to show the picture on the screen. If the light is not bright enough you will get a faint picture in a bright room. In a dark room, however, you will probably be ok.
With the Optoma HD66 projector being rated at 2500 ANSI lumens you are getting a bright light that will work well in most lighting conditions. And, the fact it is ANSI rated means that it is rated by an independent lab; not the manufacturer itself which can sometimes be biased.
Optoma HD66 Resolution
The Optoma HD66 projector has a high def 1280×720 resolution, and can deliver images in native 720p resolution. It will work with most of your high def devices like BluRay players, XBOX360, PS3 and other high def devices using a HDMI cable.
The resolution is how many pixels can be displayed at once. The 1280×720 given by the Optoma HD66 projector falls into the realm of high def.
Optoma HD66 Dimensions
The Optoma HD66 projector measures in at 7.6 x 11.3 x 4 inches and 5 pounds; pretty light for such a workhorse if you ask me. Why is that important? Well, some people like knowing the size of these devices because they want something that is portable. They may be lugging it out for presentations or going from home to home with it to play games.
If you plan on keeping the device stationary, then the Optoma HD66 projector is also fine, however, it would also be good for a portable unit.

Pros & Cons
Pros: The Optoma HD66 is small and easy to carry while still having the muscle of a HD projector capable of delivering 720p at 2500 lumens. Its a workhorse in a small footprint.
Cons: Some say that if you are throwing an image farther than 12 feet then you may benefit from a projector with more lumens or a higher resolution. However, keep in mind that you will pay more for a projector. If, however, you are on a budget and can work in this parameter then this is a good projector to consider.
